This collection is a contemporary interpretation of the gendered elements of Victorian women’s fashion. It draws inspiration from the corsetry, structured tailoring and ornate detailing to explore more fluid and expansive expressions of femininity. Through deconstructing garments historically used to idealise the female body, it creates timeless pieces that empower, liberate and celebrate self expression.

Inspired by contemporary designer Simone Rocha, whose work blends romanticism with sculptural experimentation, the collection reclaims hyper feminine signifiers as an expression of confidence. Through exaggerated silhouettes and the contrast between silk and wool fabrications, the designs highlight the natural contours of the female body and the symbolic strength of women, soft, yet resilient.

Framed through an eco-gothic lens, the collection creates balance between beautiful fashion and the complex emotions that the climate crisis evokes. The gender hierarchy and the luxury of the Victorian era is the history that shapes the collection. A reminder of the resilience of women and the importance of change for the better. Each garment becomes symbolic through its silhouette and fabrication to represent both growth and mourning. This concept is used as a way to demonstrate the deterioration of our beautiful world and the hope for renewal and sustainability.

As climate breakdown accelerates, the collection positions fashion as a space to support gender equality and care for our planet, while also mourning environmental loss. These garments reflect grief for the Earth’s decay and celebrate the complexity of feminine. Dark natural textures are used to show our uncertain future and present a slower and emotional vision of beauty, grounded in history and elegance.
