My Collection titled ‘Bleachedzoa’ takes inspiration from coral bleaching and how this is affecting coral ecosystems within the ocean. Taking key inspiration from the textures and forms of different types of coral. The shift from bright textured orange to white helps to communicate the effects that coral bleaching has on coral reefs. Whilst fabric manipulation techniques such as ruffles and natural onionskin dye are used to create and communicate ‘coral-like’ forms and to add texture to garments. The aim of the collection is to bring awareness to coral bleaching, drawing attention to the issue with the hope to create conversation and change.
