This collection emphasises clothing as a form of armour that is worn as an exoskeleton to protect the soul and identity of an individual from the world surrounding them. I am experimenting with blending corsetry and armour signifiers to create garments that make the wearer feel both feminine and protected. 2025 is an insecure time where young people are unsure of their futures. Climate change, politics, and wars in our world are constant reminders that we are in a time of immense change and unsafety; these dangers are all heightened by social media, which gives a platform to those trying to cause harm. 

My collection serves as a way of escapism from reality, reflecting the need for protection and a tough exoskeleton. I have used signifiers of traditional armour through my material choices and silhouettes.  Leather is a durable material and perfectly reflects the term second skin. I have chosen to use it as a homage to my grandparents, who built their lives from their leather business, of which many of their tools have been passed down to me. I never got the chance to learn the craft from them and so I am discovering the methods on my own by drawing inspiration from the tools and leather pieces they left behind.

This collection is a reflection of my beliefs on the current times, and a challenge that reflects my love of fantasy and escapism.
