CAPSULE COLLECTION
My collection aims to decapitalise a queer identity for a more authentic and gender fluid future. Informed by the nuances of queer culture and identity, in conjunction with a traditional clubwear/ravewear aesthetic, the range is designed for contemporary queer youth. The final designs flow between masculine and feminine fits, silhouettes, and styling to reinforce the multifaceted nature of a queer identity. With no ‘one gender’ in mind, each garment is designed to fit male, female and non-binary bodies. An antithesis to ‘pink capitalism,’ the collection aids in the healing of broken representation and expression of a queer aesthetic. Developing a unique custom print through the exploration and participation in queer Ballroom Culture (formed during the 80s/90s by Black and Latin Trans Women) highlights the misrepresentation/whitewashing of our queer history. These cross-sexual designs are intended to appeal to a wider, inclusive, and diverse audience.
