THE LITTLE WANDERER
The little wanderer is a collection that attempts to romanticise the lifelong journey of an identity crisis. In doing so, it strives to reflect the emotional turbulence experienced by those who grapple with their identity amidst a society that encourages binary oppositions. The looks take on the form of a coming-of-age narrative that follows a little traveller who encounters four creatures that each embody the alienating beauty of what it means to partake in this universal experience. The garments take inspiration from conceptual fashion, translating elements of its fantasy into a series of designs that are targeted towards an editorial setting. In particular, the expression of the baffling complexity of this process by the fabric collage and asymmetrical design juxtapose the romanticisation of this surrealistic experience by the inclusion of ruffles. In this light, the collection is a celebration of the inherent transience and liminality of self-identity.
