BENEATH THE VISCERA.

What if the body’s quietest movements could be seen?

Beneath the Viscera traces the subtle, life-sustaining processes that unfold beyond our awareness. Referencing the body’s constant cellular activity, the collection translates these hidden systems into form through a deliberate use of cording. Integrated into and between layers of material, the cording creates repetition of lines that echo the body’s internal rhythms.

This fabrication-led approach renders the microscopic tangible, suggesting a self shaped by countless units working in quiet continuity. The resulting textile carves structure, rhythm and drape across the garments.

By reflecting on nature’s cycles of growth and decay, the collection engages with the systems that conserve and evolve the self. Movement is not merely travel from one point to another, but an ongoing process of becoming. A philosophy mirrored in garments attuned to the individual in constant transformation.

In line with Entwistle’s (2000) concept of clothing as a second skin, the collection invites a heightened awareness of the body in motion. Wearing becomes an embodied reminder of the unseen forces that sustain us. A quiet choreography beneath the viscera.
