ETHEREAL EARTH.

Ethereal Earth is a conceptual collection that celebrates the beauty of nature by using organic fabrics to inspire consumers to make conscious fashion choices. Fashion pioneers like Eileen Fisher, established a "Waste No More" collection that advocates for environmental wellbeing by transforming old garments and reuses fibres into new textiles. This helps promote a mindful consumption cycle and divert wastage from landfills. Stella McCartney, known for her "Falabella Go" bag made from recycled fibres, convey her dedication and support for eco-friendly fashion. Both these designers inspired me to incorporate organic and cruelty-free fabric for my collection. Design decisions such as sculptural three-dimensional sleeves and repetitive organic shapes are inspired by designers Iris Van Herpen and Issey Miyake. van Herpen creates haute couture that are inspired by nature for example ' Hyponsis' collection which showcased elements that is a replication of water currents, flower petals and tree branches. This collection features five unique looks that utilises refined design shapes, structures and elements such as layering, gathering and tucks to embody a narrative. Pintucks and pleats are a signature feature in this collection, enhancing the narrative repeated word by mimicking the intricate textures of nature and mirroring elements like ocean waves and plant forms. These details, along with the use of layering and patchwork, contribute to the sculptural quality of the designs. Together, these techniques create a cohesive aesthetic that seamlessly blends fashion with the natural world, emphasising the collection's commitment to sustainability and artistry.
