Entangled

The Entangled collection comments on the negative impact of ghost nets from unsustainable fishing and other pollution in our oceans. Such practices entangle marine wildlife and damage reefs beyond repair. The collection inspires ocean conservation by encouraging discussion around this topic and pushes for change.  

Netted structures created using recycled cotton rope and knotting techniques are used in the collection to depict ‘ghost nets’ that allude to nautical rope, which is commonly associated with sailors. Ocean inspired prints of sea creatures and imagery of rippled water are featured within the collection to symbolise marine habitats.  

Sea creatures such as jellyfish have inspired the shapes and movement of garments in the collection. Feminine silhouettes and embellishments of gold, glass beads, shells and tassels are used to celebrate the female form and depict the beauty of the ocean we strive to protect. Minimal coverage of skin can be seen across each look, encouraging empowerment amongst the women who wear them, whilst alluding to the natural beauty of the sea.
