Planting A Future

‘Planting a future’ refers to the action of sustainable fashion through recycling and upcycling. The collection is designed in the silhouette of seeds/bulbs and different stages of growth to reconnect to our nature by becoming one with the greenery. It is a further exploration towards Shamanic rituals and their respect and love for their nature.  

We need a healthy natural environment to keep us alive, but on the other hand, the environment also needs us to keep the plants alive. One cannot be without the other. The method of knotting, binding and weaving emphasises the plants relationship as they interlock with one another.  

Plant bulbs and roots are the inspiration for the silhouette of this collection as a representation of our determination towards a greener future. The seeds/bulbs are the beginning of life. The following stages will be sprouting, growing, blossoming and finally reproduction. The bulbs and roots are underneath the ground, invisible and vulnerable but they will sprout and grow into beautiful flowers and giant trees. We could also plant a sustainable future by reducing textile waste and be willing to protect our natural environment.
